Two Regions Unite to Strengthen Safe, Secure, and Trusted Cyberspace in ASEAN

26 January 2026, marks the opening of the Operational Technology (OT) and Cloud Security Training, taking place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 26–29 January 2026. The training is co-hosted by the EU-funded project “EU CyberNet” and the ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Capacity Building Centre (AJCCBC) under the National Cyber Security Agency of Thailand (NCSA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The opening ceremony formally welcomed 20 participants from nine ASEAN Member States. Opening remarks were delivered by Captain Sirinate Rugvong, Senior Advisor, NCSA; Mr. Andreas Roettger, Head of FPI Asia/Pacific, EU Delegation to Thailand; and Ms. Liina Areng, Director, EU CyberNet.
In their remarks, the representatives highlighted the growing importance of cybersecurity in the region and emphasized the critical role of international and regional collaboration in building a safe, secure, and trusted cyberspace.
Over the next four days, participants will engage in hands-on technical sessions, practical exercises, and group discussions focused on addressing OT and cloud security risks, led by EU experts Adolfo Caldeira, Radosław Gnat, and Roman Konicek.
This training marks another important step in strengthening cybersecurity cooperation between the European Union, Japan, and ASEAN, contributing to enhanced cyber resilience.
